Register Your Team

  • Send out a reminder asking your teammates to sign up! The earlier they sign up, the sooner they have access to their Participant Center. Note, to be eligible for amazing team prizes there must be a minimum of 4 people per team and each individual is required to fundraise $125.

Recruit a Co-Captain

  • We get it. Things might get busy sometimes! Try and recruit a right-hand man (or woman) to help you with your captain responsibilities. Find someone who can help you spearhead your team to success.

Set a Fundraising Goal

  • Set a goal to inspire yourself and your donors. AIM HIGH for your fundraising goal. You already accepted the challenge to climb 739 steps, set the same standard for your fundraising efforts!  This amount can always be changed in your Participant Center too.

5 Simple Ways to Recruit
 

1.  Update your Team Page

Personalize your Team Page with images from past rides, team gatherings, or other fundraising events. Introduce your team and share your story or reasons for riding! You can check out the Participant Center User Guide for more information on how to login and access your progress.
 

2.  Just ASK!

  • One of the easiest things you can do is ask. Don’t be shy – ask your friends, family, coworkers, neighbours, hair stylist, doctor etc. It might surprise you how many other like-minded people are around you!  After all these years of the Stairclimb, we still find word of the mouth the most efficient way to recruit riders.
     
  • 3.  Get Social

  • Social media is one of the easiest forms of communication that allows you to reach a broader audience. Continue to update your status and post a link to your team page. Don’t forget to mention and share the official Stairclimb Facebook page. We also post training tips and fun facts that might be interesting to your social network! 
     
  • 4.  Send Out an Email

  • We have email templates ready to go in your Participant Center.  Feel free to personalize the templates to include why you are doing the Stariclimb and why others should as well – make sure you include a registration link too! 
     
  • 5.  Use your Work Networks

    Recruit your president or CEO, and ask him or her to help you spread the word. Consider displaying event flyers throughout your office or in the lunch room. If you would like to request flyers, please email stairclimb@bc.lung.ca. You could even try placing an article in your company newsletter or send a company-wide email –just make sure to ask permission from your HR department before sending.

    Potluck

    Valentine's Day is coming up.  Whether its couples-only, singles-awareness, or Cupid's Theme host a potluck with your teammates and invite everyone’s friends and family. This is a great way to ask for donations in person. Logistically, potlucks are also incredibly easy to plan.

    Pub Night

    Let your favourite pub know that you're interested in planning a charity event.  Often times, they have $10 beer & burger deals.  Once that's set, get crafty and create tickets you can sell to your supporters for $15. You can even use the tickets as an entry for a door prize!
